At PHC the Medical Records Supervisor is responsible for serving as the primary contact and representative for the Health Information Services department. Establishing HIM procedures, standards, and departmental objectives; supervising daily departmental functions, which includes medical records completion, transmission, indexing, filing, storage, retrieval, and maintenance.
Key/Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Manages the Medical Records Department to optimize the efficient and effective handling of patient records and related documentation
Supervises staff in processing medical records and in performing other medical records functions along with training new employees in the department
Oversees procedures to meet legal and accreditation regulations regarding content, processing of the medical records, and releasing of information
Manages continuous quality improvement of patient information; ensure confidentiality and integrity of patient records
Ensures medical records reviews and audits are conducted within established timeframes and per hospital policy
Participates in monthly with the developmental and implementation of Quality improvement (QA/QI meeting)

Minimum Qualification Requirements including education, experience, licensure/certification, etc. And essential physical capabilities (e.g., lifting, assisting lifting, standing, etc.)

1-2 years’ experience in medical records operations
Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management
Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) by AHIMA American Health Information Management Association
Previous experience with an electronic health record (EHR)
Knowledge of accreditation standards, federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to HIPAA
Knowledge of release of information to third-party companies (attorney offices and insurance companies)
Must read, write, and speak fluent English

Preferred Qualification Requirements (desired requirements beyond MQRs above)

Master’s Degree in Health Information Management
Second language (Spanish)
Experience in a management/Supervisor position

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $58,000.00 – $65,000.00 per year
